Resident Camp
Resident Camp offers a special place for self-discovery, laughter, fun and friendship. Through small group interactions, girls can learn more about themselves and others and gain confidence from trying new things and making new friends. With positive role models, exciting experiences and new found friends, campers have the time of their lives in a healthy, safe and accredited environment.

Our Five Day Resident Camps are designed to include work towards earning a specific badge. Once the badge work is completed, which may include work outside of camp, the badges are available for purchase from any council shop.

Our Three Day Resident Camps are designed to introduce campers to the fun and magic of camp. Campers will participate in theme based activities that allow them to explore camp and enjoy themselves. There is no specific badge work completed during a three day camp.

Troop Camp

Camping as a troop can be one of a girl's most memorable Girl Scout experiences. Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore has everything a troop needs to go on a troop camping adventure!

It's especially great for those troops with limited or no camping experience. While at camp, you will participate in programs planned and facilitated by enthusiastic camp staff. Some of your activities include swimming, boating, archery, arts and crafts, a campfire and more!

Leadership Camp
Colleges, businesses, schools, and industries are looking for leaders - people who can take initiative, guide others, and incorporate change. GSMISTS leadership programs are designed to give you leadership skills that are transferable to any situation such as school, sports, work, community or volunteer opportunities.

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) develops leadership skills specific to leading children, particularly leading children at camp, but not exclusively at camp. This training helps prepare participants to be camp counselors and instructors at any camp. It also prepares you to work with children in many other settings. Participation in the CIT program does not automatically guarantee employment at GSMISTS Camps in the future, however; it is very helpful.

This program is for people who are highly motivated, ready to work and play hard, and who demonstrate additional responsibility in accepting the challenges of leadership. Participants are selected on the basis of experience, references, and a personal interview. Applications and reference forms will be sent to you when your camp registration is received.

General Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Information

GSMISTS Counselor-in-Training program offers you, as a high school student, an opportunity to learn the leadership skills needed to work with girls in the outdoors, specifically at camp. If you are highly motivated, ready to work and play hard, and are willing to accept a leadership role at camp, this is the program for you.

As a CIT you will explore the areas of camp craft skills, group dynamics, child development, program planning, camp operations, and the role of the camp counselor. The program includes time devoted to learning these skill sets, plus actual experience working with children under the supervision of camp staff.

We offer CIT I at both Camp Anna Behrens and Camp Sakakawea. CIT II is only hosted at Camp Sakakawea. The CIT I program is a total of two weeks and the CIT II program is three weeks. We prefer that you are able to stay for the entire duration of your program, but are willing to work with you if you have religious or family obligations.

Participation in the program prepares you for employment at camps in the future. We do require girls to have completed the CIT I course prior to entering the CIT II program.

Camp Moxie-West is a 4-day leadership camp for girls who want to make a difference in their world. Girls who just completed grades 8-12 will develop their leadership skills by participating in exciting, interactive, hands-on workshops and activities facilitated by Michigan women leaders in business, philanthropy, and elected office. Co-sponsored by the Michigan Women’s Foundation and the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore, Camp Moxie is designed for ANY girl in Michigan who wants to gain the courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place.
